Google
recently launched four new smartphones as a part of its latest
Pixel
9 series. Meanwhile, rumours about the upcoming mid-range
Pixel 9a
have already begun circulating online. A tipster has leaked a few images of the rumoured Pixel 9a, which offers a glimpse of what the next
Pixel A-series
smartphone might look like.
According to a report by 9to5Google, the leaked pictures of the alleged Pixel 9a were first uploaded on a private Vietnamese Pixel fan Facebook group.
However, the images from the Facebook group were later taken down. Meanwhile, another tipster ShrimpApplePro shared these leaked pictures on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). These images showed how the upcoming Pixel 9a will sport a different look than the newly launched Pixel 9 series.
Google Pixel 9a images leaked: What to expect
As per the leaked images, Google may flatten or even remove the camera bar from the Pixel 9a. The pictures reveal a dual-camera setup with a glossy ring around it, echoing the rounded floating camera bar of the Pixel 9 series.
The LED flash seems to be positioned on the right side, outside of the camera module. However, these leaks suggest that the Pixel 9aâs camera system might be flush with the frame and may avoid any protrusion from the back of the device.
This would also mark the first major design feature that hasnât transitioned from the mainline series to the A-series since the Pixel 4a, which featured a single-camera system. Removing the camera bar could also help distinguish the lineup from the Pixel 9 series and reduce costs.
The leak also indicates that the Pixel 9a may adopt the boxy design of the Pixel 9 series, with flat side rails and a SIM tray that appears to be moving down to the bottom bezel, similar to the latest flagship models.
It's unclear whether the display bezels are uniform on all sides, but the screen edges seem more pronounced compared to the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro.
The leaked images also show the Pixel 9a with a matte backplate and side rails. The tipster further claimed that the Pixel 9a could launch by the âend of this yearâ and might be available in up to four colours, including a âsilverâ option.
