These OnePlus flagship models may be facing ‘dead phone’ issues

Some OnePlus smartphone users have been facing a severe phone bricking issue for the last few days. Users of some of the older flagship models from the brand, like the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 9 Pro , have complained about dead phone issues on the company’s community page. Users have reported that their phones suddenly stopped working with their screens going black and the phone becoming completely unusable.
Moreover, when they reportedly went to repair their phones, they were informed about a dead motherboard issue which
An X post from an account named OnePlus Club has shared multiple such complaints made by OnePlus users. The post reads: “Recently so many OnePlus 9 and 10 series users have reported that their device's motherboard is getting dead and no support is being provided by OnePlus in this regard! It's really concerning that flagship users are facing these issues and they're left with no solution, while OnePlus has given an appreciable solution to the green line issue; I request them to provide a proper solution in this regard too @OnePlus_IN @OnePlus_Support”

How this issue is affecting users

One of the affected users said: “I've been a loyal OnePlus user for years, proudly adopting the entire ecosystem. My previous phones included the 0P1, OP2, OP5, and OP7, and I was always satisfied with their performance. In December 2022, I purchased the OnePlus 10 Pro and was initially thrilled with its performance. However, as time went on, the phone began to lag. After some adjustments, like tweaking app settings and controlling background activities, it worked fine again. The phone also started experiencing heating issues, but I managed to resolve those with app management and good charging habits.
Then, in August 2024, my phone suddenly turned off one afternoon, leaving me with a black screen and no response. I tried everything: hard restarts, holding the power button for 10-20 seconds, pressing the power button along with volume up or down, and even following a battery cycle method-leaving the phone idle for 12-18 hours and then charging it for 12 hours. Despite all this, the screen remained black, and the phone was essentially bricked. I took it to the service centre, where they tested the battery and screen, both of which were functioning correctly. Unfortunately, they informed me that the motherboard was unresponsive.”
